KOTA BARU: A 15-year-old girl and her mother were killed in a road accident in Kok Lanas town after they had collected the girl's Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination result.
Siti Aishah Zakaria and Azizah Musa, 42, who were on a motorcycle, died on the spot in the accident at the traffic light junction of Jalan Kuala Krai-Kota Baru at about 1 pm, said a spokesman of the Kota Baru district police.
Azizah, who was riding the machine, had stopped at the lights when she was hit by a lorry carrying sandstone, he said, adding that the lorry also crashed into three vehicles waiting behind the motorcycle.
Aishah's father, Zakaria Muhamad, 43, an ex-serviceman, said he learned of the accident from a friend who telephoned him at 1.15 pm.
He said his daughter's teacher had informed him that Aishah had scored 4As, 4Bs and 1C in the examination. - BERNAMA
